Lemongrass is a perennial grass that grows well in tropical Asia and other warm climates. It makes a refreshing and cleansing tea that's believed to improve the quality of your sleep.
Rich in iron, zinc, magnesium and vitamins A, B and C, lemongrass is said to help the body to maintain healthy cholesterol levels, reduce fever and strengthen the immune system.
Try making a syrup by adding around 30g of lemongrass to 200g of sugar dissolved in 300ml of water. Simmer for 5 minutes, then leave to cool. Strain the syrup then chill, and serve poured over fruit salad and icecream, or add to sparkling water as a mixer.
