Hibiscus FlowersWhole Dried Flowers
These whole dried hibiscus blooms from Yunnan, China are quite extraordinary. Beautiful and a little otherworldly, the plump red flowers brew a rosy red infusion that’s tart and cranberry-like in flavour.
Native to tropical regions of Africa, Asian and Europe, the species is often called roselle, but is known by many other names around the world, including sorrel in the Caribbean and Flor de Jamaica in Mexico.
It is known for it high vitamin C content.
Brew 2-3 flowers per person with boiling water for 2 minutes. Re-infuse until all the colour and flavour dissipates.
The beverage can be served hot or cold, on its own or with a drop of lime juice (which turns the liquor a brighter red) and sweetened with sugar or honey if preferred.
