A lifted Darjeeling, full of personality yet with a lightness of touch, this tea is inspired. Bright, muscatel aromatics, medium bodied and brisk. 

Origin: Kurseong, Darjeeling

Variety: Camellia sinensis sinensis (AV2 clone, or Ambari Vegetative) 

Giddapahar Wonder is a hand-rolled, high-altitude AV2 tea. AV2 is a specially developed clonal tea (which they call Wonder at Giddapahar, Moonlight at other estates) that exhibits superior characteristics and is being grown increasingly widely in the very experimental Darjeeling region. The results are wonderful: extra nuanced, with tippy, musky top notes.

Giddapahar only started producing AV2s relatively recently, but with great success. The combination of science with craft can’t be argued with, as superior leaves are hand picked and hand rolled to reduce breakage and create a better tasting tea.

Giddapahar, meaning eagle cliff, has been in the same family since its inception in 1881. The 94 hectares of tea fields reach up to an altitude of 1,585m, meaning cool conditions slow the leaf growth and allow for the development of more complex flavours. Checked growth also allows for a more considered, quality pluck in the field.

  • 90°C
Brew at 95°C with freshly drawn and filtered water. Use 3g per cup and steep for 2-3 minutes before serving, or to taste.
