Darjeeling 2nd Flush, GoomteeSummer 2018
A divine Darjeeling with amber infusion and rich, satisfying muscatel notes. Referred to as the Champagne of teas, and with good reason.
Origin: Goomtee Tea Garden, Darjeeling
Variety: Camellia sinensis sinensis
This is a very high grade second flush, exhibiting classic Muscatel notes, full and satisfying body, and a grapey finish with soft oaky undertones.
Goomtee Tea Estate is a beautiful garden between Jungpana to the East and Castleton to the West. It was British pioneer Henry Lennox who first planted teas here in 1899, and the garden has now been in the same hands since 1956, with a third generation eager to experiment with new processing methods to make the most of the pristine leaves.
Today, tea from Goomtee is processed in the orthodox way, meaning it is hand picked and processed with machinery that mimics hand-rolling. The combination of high altitude (at 4,500 ft), handpicking and precise processing methods has ensured the high quality of the pure china tea leaf.
These distinguished teas are often marketed as Muscatel Valley teas.
